Greek (modern Ελληνικά, romanized: Elliniká, ancient Ἑλληνική, Hellēnikḗ) is a language native to Greece, Cyprus, Albania, other parts of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea, with a documented history spanning at least 3,400 years of written records.

Archiopedists would write more about the subject, but they think that Wikipedians have already said it best.
